Arriba Tempranillo 2024 (Spain)

Arriba Tempranillo 2024 (Spain)

"Darker fruit here, think dusty blackberry, or juicy damson plum. That primary fruit is enhanced by a dried herb/bouquet garni character, and the palate is interesting, attractive, reasonably lengthy. Moderately low in acidity, what impresses me are the fine, grainy tannins, remarkable in such an inexpensive red wine. Been enjoying this wine for several years now, and this is the best Arriba ever. Toothsome, tasty, classy wine at a brilliant price" Paul Tudor, Master of Wine

"Pristine and inviting, the bouquet shows dark cherry, blueberry, clove, nutmeg, and floral aromas, leading to a silky-smooth palate that's succulent and fleshy. Well-rounded and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2025

A full-flavoured, soft and supple red with vibrant plummy fruit, refreshing acidity and smooth, fine-grained tannins.

Sourced from 25–40-year-old Tempranillo vines in La Mancha and Valdepeñas, this wine is made by fifth-generation producers Navarro López in partnership with New Zealand importer and Master of Wine Steve Bennett. Specifically created to introduce Kiwi drinkers to Spain’s signature grape, the wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve fresh fruit vibrancy and varietal character. No oak is used, allowing the pure, vibrant personality of Tempranillo to shine through at an everyday price. With a host of accolades over the past 10 vintages, this is one of the most consistent and award-winning value reds on the New Zealand market.

Food Pairing: It’s exceptionally drinkable and food-friendly — perfect with everything from mushroom risotto and grilled octopus to lamb or cheese.
