Bishop's Leap Marlborough Pinot Noir 2024

Bishop's Leap Marlborough Pinot Noir 2024

"This wine is fragrant on the nose with aromas of sweet cherry, plum, bay leaf, and floral notes. The palate is juicy, offering fine texture and a smooth mouthfeel. It is attractively fruited and friendly, offering charming drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2026

"A lively, fruity and fresh expression with aromas and flavours of strawberries and raspberry with some red cherry ideas. A dry wine with very fine needle-point tannins and medium+ acid line framing core fruit flavours of red berries and cherry. A lighter-weighted expression, balanced and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2028+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

In the glass, it shines a deep garnet hue, offering bright red fruit aromas layered with toasty oak and a gentle savoury note. The palate is clean and crisp, framed by powdery tannins and finishing with a lingering touch of oak. Fresh, bright, and beautifully structured, this Pinot Noir reflects both the purity of Marlborough fruit and the character of the land it comes from. Enjoy now, or allow it to evolve gracefully over the next five years.

Local folklore tells of an early Marlborough Bishop who, while being pursued by a Māori war party, made a daring leap into the fast-flowing Wairau River. Today, that same river provides the life-giving water for Marlborough’s flourishing vineyards — including those that produce our Bishop’s Leap wines.

Our 2024 Bishop’s Leap Pinot Noir is sourced predominantly from the Southern Valleys, with a touch of fruit from the Awatere vineyard adding extra lift and structure. Machine harvested and partially fermented in oak barrels; this wine captures the region’s signature brightness and balance.
