Lemon straw with green hues. Notes of lemon peel, fig and white peach layered with oak spice and a hint of minerality. Zesty citrus characters with subtle oak undertones. Rich and mouth-filling with lovely texture and richness.
Sourced from Havelock Hills and Tuki Tuki vineyards. Vine age of between 5 to 28 years. Harvested early to mid-March 2023.
Whole bunch pressed and filled to French oak barrels. Approximately 13% were new, 20% were second fill, the remainder were seasoned. Fermented with a mix of indigenous and cultured yeast. Approximately 40% of the blend underwent Malolactic fermentation. The wine was left in barrel on full yeast lees for 11 months before blending and bottling. At Black Barn our approach with Chardonnay is elegant fruit with complexity on the nose with a seamless (no elbows) palate.
