Camshorn Waipara Pinot Noir 2022
- Black cherry compote
- Bitter chocolate
- Vanilla
- Ripe tannins
Dark fruit aromas and smoky hints, lead to a medium-bodied palate. Flavours of black cherry compote, and ripe plum are joined by savoury spices and vanilla. Ripe tannins and a charry, bitter chocolate finish shot through with purple fruits.
The Camshorn vineyards are along the East coast but sheltered from cool Easterly winds by the Teviotdale Hills, allowing warm daytime temperatures at ripening. The vines are planted predominantly on Glasnevin Gravels, which are light, free-draining stony soils, consisting of a thin (200-350mm) silt loam topsoil overlaying a stony, sandy loam with sandy gravels underneath.
Food Pairing: Seared venison cutlet served with roasted baby beetroot and a blackcurrant with Vietnamese jus would be an ideal match.
