Canapi Sicily Nero d’Avola 2018 (Italy)
Canapi is back! After a couple of years in the shadows this juicy easy drinking red is back by popular demand, and the great news is that it has just been awarded a Gold Medal!
We're in love with the great value wines of Sicily. And nothing we've found so far is a better advertisement for them than the 'Canapi' wines. One of our biggest-selling wines, Canapi Nero d'Avola is fantastic example of the ripe, plummy, super easy-drinking reds that are coming out of Sicily these days. The Gold Medal winning 2018 Canapi is full of ripe red berry aromas and flavours supported by soft tannins.
Nero d'Avola is the main red variety on the island of Sicily, and in our opinion it is their best foot forward. 'Canapi' is the Sicilian name (in Sicilian dialect) of the special sailor’s knot depicted on the label. Sicily has as rich a seafaring history as it does a winemaking history. And the ‘Canapi knot’ on the label symbolizes the union of these two traditionally important Sicilian industries.
Food Pairing: This wine is perfect for drinking with pasta dishes but also on its own.
