Códice Tempranillo 2017 (Spain)

  • Rich red berries
  • Coffee
  • Baking spices
  • French & American oak

"Tempranillo honesty at its most everyday version. Rich, fresh and plenty of fruit" Marcos Eguren, Winemaker

A ruby red with light violet in the edge of the glass, this Tempranillo wine is brimming with flavours of raspberry, blackberry and coffee with spice and a hint of vanilla. A well structured wine with balanced tannins and acidity, the fresh fruit elements work in perfect conjunction with the characteristics of aging; spices, coffee and noble wood.

Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown in controlled old vineyards in Manchuela (Castilla). Fermentation occurred with selected yeast in controlled temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees. 8 days of maceration occurred with 2 daily pump overs. Post fermentative maceration lasted 6 days, with gentle extraction and one light pump over daily. Ageing took place in French and American oak barrels and lasted 6 months.

Food Pairing: This wine matches beautifully with Spanish style pork ribs and white bean salad or Portuguese paella.
