Craggy Range Te Muna Road Single Vineyard Martinborough Pinot Noir 2018
- French oak
- Cherry
- Fresh truffle
- Endless finish
Bright cherry with crimson hue. Lifted morello cherry, with complex notes of fresh truffle and wet earth. The palate provides the perfect amount of structure to carry the volume of varietal fruit that presents. The finish is endless.
The Te Muna Road Vineyard is located some 7 kilometres outside of the Martinborough township. The vineyard consists of two distinct terraces, the higher comprising very old, stony clay-infused soils perfect for Pinot Noir. The lower terrace of younger stony soils interleaved with limestone provides an excellent environment for Sauvignon Blanc. The cooler climate of Martinborough ensures the wine is aromatic with steely minerality while the rocky soils gives intensity of the fruit. The region’s warm, dry summers and mild winters have led to complex and structured wines with subtle aromatics and an elegant finish
The season started off warm early followed by moderate rainfall during the ripening period. Grapes were 100% hand harvested.
25% Whole bunch pressed and 75% destemmed before undergoing fermentation in a combination of French oak cuves and open top stainless steel tank with indigenious yeast. Matured in French oak barriques (7% new) for 9 months before fining and coarse filtraten followd by bottling.
Food Pairing: Pan seared and roasted duck leg, fresh pasta and satueed mushroom risotto.
