De la Terre Reserve Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2019
"Textural Chardonnay with grapefruit, sizzled butter, struck flint, vanilla, green apple, hazelnut and spicy oak characters. Full-flavoured wine that is approachable now but promises to develop with bottle age" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, The Real Review, Nov 2022
The colour is a healthy straw colour, typical of barrel-fermented Chardonnay. The nose shows a wonderful marriage of fruit, yeast and French oak with signature notes of minerality and a slight mealy complexity. The palate has a rich and powerful attack followed by a luscious mid-palate and great length. Balance is the key here - our aim is for harmony between the key elements - fruit, oak and complexity. Cellar for 8-10 years.
