Fire Road Marlborough Lighter Sauvignon Blanc 2021
- Dry style
- Nectarine
- Passionfruit
- Zesty finish
The palate is vibrant and well balanced, and shows typical Marlborough Sauvignon flavours including passionfruit and nectarine with a lingering zesty finish. A succulent wine drinking beautifully now or up to two years from vintage date.
Fruit for this wine was picked up to six weeks earlier than normal, whilst sugar levels in the grapes were low. The resulting wine is naturally lighter in alcohol and displays fragrant aromas of tropical fruit and fresh citrus.
Marlborough’s worst ever fire, Boxing Day 2000, burnt 6,000 ha, for over three days, killed thousands of stock and threatened the wine town of Blenheim, as well as a number of vineyards and wineries. Disaster was avoided by the brave residents, of what is now known as Fireroad, who battled the blaze, by using buckets and hand held hoses and were eventually assisted by a fortunate wind shift.
Food Pairing: A perfect match with sizzling garlic prawns and crusty bread.
