Flor de Crasto Douro Red Blend 2018 (Portugal)
- Red berries
- Florals
- Finely textured
- Polished tannins
A deep ruby red in colour with pleasant floral notes, well integrated with fresh aromas of red fruit. Elegant on the palate, evolving into a wine of good volume that offers a fine texture and polished tannins. A seductive and refined wine that finishes with great balance and freshness.
An elegant blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grapes.
The 2018 harvest began with the arrival of the first white grapes from Quinta do Crasto on August 29, and wrapped up on October 14 with the last grapes from the highest altitude vineyards. On balance, 2018 brought exceptional balance and freshness to the white wines; the reds turned out concentrated, with outstanding structure and freshness, and clearly defined aromas.
Fermentation occured in controlled temperatures for seven days in stainless steel vats.
Mr. Constantino de Almeida purchased the Quinta, which dates back to the early 17th century, in the early 1900s. The Quinta was his passion, a passion shared by his children, and it became his descendants' lifelong devotion as well. The last forty years have brought immense joy, but like any great passion, entailed great sacrifices. In 1994 - a few years after a change was made to Portuguese law, allowing Quintas to export wines in their own right for the first time since the 1930s – the Quinta do Crasto began to bottle and sell our Douro wines. Soon afterward, with the launch of the 1978 Crasto Vintage Port, we began marketing Port wines from the Quinta’s old stocks. Around the same time, father and current CEO Jorge began sharing this passion with his three children - Miguel, Tomás and Rita - whose hard work and energetic commitment have helped the Quinta do Crasto earn its eminent position not only in the Portuguese marketplace, but on the global wine map as well.
