Good Company Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020

Good Company Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020

  • French oak
  • Blackberry
  • Savoury spice
  • Fine tannins

This Pinot Noir shows ripe blackberry and cassis with hints of savoury spice on the nose. The palate is silky with fine tannins and a subtle toasty finish.

They were incredibly lucky to be able to continue to create these wines during the global pandemic crisis. For this reason, their 2020 wines carry some very unique memories. The 2020 growing season was very dry, which meant disease pressure was low and some timely light rains kept just enough water flowing in the rivers. They had a classic Marlborough autumn with warm days and cool nights, which created this season’s wines with their signature fresh natural acidity and intense fruit flavours.

Low yielding parcels of Pinot Noir were harvested at cool temperatures to maintain quality. In the winery, the fruit was gently warmed and inoculated with selected yeasts to enhance varietal character. A fast, hot fermentation proceeded with meticulous cap management to craft a wine with elegance and balance. After fermentation the parcels were gently pressed off, then aged with oak while undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine was blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

Food Pairing: Enjoy on its own, or match with roast duck, mushroom risotto or warm chocolate brownie.
