Gotas De Mar Albariño 2017 (Spain)
- Bone-dry style
- Peach
- White flowers
- Mouth watering acidity
Brilliant pale lemon colour. Intense stringent aromas of peaches, white flowers, stony minerals and a hint of fresh sea breeze. The palate offers an energetic combination of steely acidity with charming peachy fruit and stony minerals. It finishes clean with a mouth watering acidity and long, complex persistence.
The grapes were handpicked during early morning to preserve their charming aromatic character. Whole bunch pressing in pneumatic press. Cold settling for 16 hours, racked off its heavy lees before inoculating with neutral yeast strains. Temperature controlled fermentation at 14-16ºC for 16-20 days. Aged on its lees for 6 month with occasional stirring. Clarified and filtrated before bottling in late spring.
Rías Baixas is Spain's most Northwestern winegrowing region. It is named after the coastal valleys, “rías”, which stretch up to 30 km inland. Vineyards are almost exclusively planted with the local Albariño grape, which is practically the only found in this area of the world. Albariño from Rías Baixas is probably the most fashionable white wine from the Iberian Peninsula at the moment.
