Haha Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2019
- Toasty oak
- Dark plum & blueberry
- Black pepper & Chinese five spice
- Soft tannins
"It is immediately appealing on the nose showing dark plum, sweet raspberry, floral, olive and toasted almond characters. The palate delivers bright fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by fleshy texture and silky tannins. Youthfully charming and delightfully expressed, making it fabulous drinkable. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2020
Deep red with purple hues in the glass. Blueberry and plum fruit notes with hints of aromatic black pepper and Chinese five spice, supported by a toasty oak and a savoury nuance on the nose. Fresh and delicious medium—bodied palate, with a touch of bright acidity. With soft tannins and a rich round finish, this Syrah is perfectly balanced.
Grapes were harvested from vineyards in the Bridge Pa Triangle sub-region of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. A mix of free draining stony soils and silty clay loams, the vineyards are situated in ancient river beds. A sublime growing season in Hawke’s Bay resulted in an exceptional wine with a silky smooth palate. Cold soaked prior to temperature controlled fermentation, in a mixture of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
Food Pairing: Drink with grilled meats or spicy Asian meat dishes.
