"Sweetly fruited and attractively expressed, the inviting bouquet shows Black Doris plum, spiced cherry, vanilla and hazelnut characters with subtle gamey complexity. The palate is succulent and supple with fleshy mouthfeel and silky texture, wonderfully supported by velvety tannins. Flavoursome and immediately appealing" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"A blend of negroamaro, primitivo, montepulciano and nero d'avola from Puglia in Southern Italy. Juicy, almost syrupy, red with ripe plum, fruitcake, dried fruits, vanilla and subtle spice flavours. The perfect wine for pasta served with a rich meat sauce" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review
An incredibly characterful and superb value wine from Puglia in southern Italy. It is named after local winemaker Rosario’s nickname, “Il Sarone” (‘Big Saro’) to his friends. Blended from equal volumes of 4 of southern Italy’s native varieties. Negroamaro, bringing an exotic perfume, Primitivo, power and richness, Montepulciano, freshness and spice and Nero d’Avola, fruity softness… it represents the best of all worlds. Deep garnet in hue it has an amazing complex bouquet, rich soft fruit flavours with an appealing splash of spice, soft rounded tannins yet an appealing freshness that makes it extremely drinkable and incredibly versatile with food.
