Leveret Estate Hawke's Bay Merlot Cabernet 2019

Leveret Estate Hawke's Bay Merlot Cabernet 2019

A classic example of Hawke’s Bay Merlot Cabernet with an expressive aroma that is vibrant with notes of spiced plum, ripe berry, cedar, and subtle dried herb lift. The palate is well structured with fine grained tannins, mouth-filling voluptuous dark fruits, and spice.

A blend of Merlot 79%, Cabernet Sauvignon 19%, Malbec 2% all grown in their Tantallon Vineyard in the Hawke’s Bay.

The grapes were harvested from the Tantallon vineyard and transported to their Riverview winery where they were crushed to open topped stainless steel fermentation vessels and inoculated using predominantly the Uvaferm BDX yeast strain. The ferments were hand plunged several times per day until dry and then allowed from 2 to 14 days extended maceration. The wine was then pressed off the skins and put to barrel where it was aged for 18 months before blending. The wine was then transported by road tanker to their Katikati winery for final blending and finishing. Bottling was in September 2021.
