Marlborough Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2020
- French oak
- Dark cherry
- Floral notes
- Fine tannins
"It's bright and fruit expressive on the nose showing sweet plum, floral, clove and almond characters, leading to an elegantly weighted palate delivering ripe berry flavours together with smooth mouthfeel and a lingering juicy finish. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021
Bright floral aromas of sunwarmed raspberries with dark cherry. A fruit driven wine with fresh flavours of boysenberry and toasty oak. The tannin structure is fine with beautiful balance and an inviting savoury finish. Drinking beautifully now, this wine can be enjoyed young or will mature into a more complex wine over the next 5 years.
Fruit for this wine was sourced from a number of specifically chosen low cropping vineyards from the Southern valleys in Marlborough.
The wine was hand plunged frequently throughout ferment then gently pressed off skins. When dry each batch was pressed to tank, settled and then racked off gross lees to either stainless steel tanks or a mixture of new and older seasoned French oak. 100 per cent malolactic fermentation was carried out before being blended and gently prepared for bottling.
Food Pairing: Beautifully matched with Pan seared salmon and asparagus.
