With the colour of fresh straw just cut and raked, this Chardonnay shows scented grapefruit pith, French oak spice, brazil nuts, and bright citrus. This is carried through to the palate with citrus texture, mealiness, spice and a long finish – clean and textured with a generous almost savoury mouthfeel. There is plenty of flavour and a finish that is both rewarding and refreshing.
Two organically farmed vineyards – one was machined the other was handpicked – both went to 100% French oak of approximately 15% new. The Machined portion was kept clean to maintain vibrancy and acidity while the handpicked portion was allowed to go ‘feral’ and behave like the black sheep. The combination of the 2 though was superb and has shown a remarkable vibrancy yet complex lasting finish.
