Massey Dacta Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025
"It's brightly fruited and fragrant on the nose, showing crunchy apple, kiwifruit, rock melon, and lime peel aromas. The palate delivers youthful fruit intensity, a fine texture, and juicy acidity, making it flavoursome and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2027. $18.00. www.thecoterie.co.nz. June 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2026
Fresh cut meadow hay. Bright rich box hedge, thistle and pea straw, with hints of tomato leaf and rock melon. Some luscious flavours, umami, mineral fruit weight with a touch of jalepeño and tropical flavours. All wound up with supine, crunch, invigorating acidity - simply sensational!
As kids; the farm was all about that big red tractor which captivated our imaginations. The real name was such a mouthful that from our earliest memories it was known as the Massey Dacta. This wine is a tribute to the fantastic memories we had growing up in rural New Zealand; and of course – the Massey Dacta!!
Stunning growing season, long, hot and dry. The tractor hadn’t seen this type of summer since the drought of the 1970’s - when grapes were first planted in Marlborough. 50 years on it was ‘hay in a day’, with the El Niña providing the most perfect conditions and the return to balanced crop loads.
