Mills Reef Estate Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2018
- Toasty oak
- Peak
- Lemon
- Honeydew melon
This intensely aromatic wine showcases aromas and flavours of peach, lemon and honeydew melon, supported by subtle toasty oak.
The grapes for this fine wine were grown predominantly in the winemakers Meeanee vineyard located slightly inland from the coast in the celebrated wine region of Hawke's Bay. The weather over the growing season was excellent, with a steady warm summer allowing the fruit to ripen perfectly for harvesting at the end of March, upon reaching optimum flavour profile.
The juice was fermented to wine in stainless steel vats, then put to maturation for nine months, with a small portion treated to French oak seasoning. The final wine was then composed on the 18th of January 2019, followed by fining and filtering before being bottled under screw-cap on the 14th of March 2019.
Estate wines are made in a soft rounded style with an emphasis on natural fruit character and earlier approachability, for everyday enjoyment. They represent great value for money.
Food Pairing: Medium-bodied and silky smooth, this delightful wine is enjoyable on its own or to pair beautifully with your favourite chicken, salmon or risotto dish.
