Mills Reef Estate Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2020
- French oak
- Lime & mango
- Apple blossom
- Silky smooth
This intensely aromatic wine showcases aromas and flavours of lime, mango, rock melon, with a hint of apple blossom supported with deft toasty oak. Medium-bodied and silky smooth.
The grapes for this fine wine were grown predominantly from their Bridge Pa vineyard, where the vines sit in rich alluvial soils, in the celebrated Triangles wine region of the Hawke’s Bay.
The weather over the growing season was excellent, with a hot dry summer allowing the fruit to ripen perfectly for harvesting on the 16th March, upon reaching optimum flavour profile and balance.
The juice was fermented to wine in a stainless steel tank and then put to maturation for sixteen months, with a small portion treated to 10% new French oak seasoning. The final wine blend was then treated to a light fining and filtering before being bottled under screwcap on the 26th of August 2021.
Estate wines are made in a soft rounded style with an emphasis on natural fruit character and earlier approachability, for everyday enjoyment. They represent great value for money.
Food Pairing: this delightful wine is enjoyable on its own, or pair beautifully with prawn dumplings or a risotto dish.
