Mills Reef Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir 2021

Mills Reef Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir 2021

Delightfully approachable, yet complex, this supple rich Marlborough Pinot Noir exudes sweet cherry, cinnamon and clove aromas, with vibrant boysenberry fruit flavours, beautifully complemented with dark plum and savoury oak. Velvety refined tannins lead to a mouth filling and a lingering finish.

The grapes for this generous wine were grown in the Marlborough region, on low yielding vines. After a long hot summer and the vines in perfect health the grapes were picked at ideal ripeness and flavour profile.

The grapes were gently crushed and allowed to cold soak for 3 days to extract important colour and flavour components. Fermentation proceeded with light plunging for further colour, flavour and fine tannin extraction. After a short post ferment skin contact regime, the resulting wine was then sent to barrel for sixteen months ageing in quality French oak (20% new wood) to enhance its natural structure. The wine received a light egg white fining and was cross flow filtered prior to bottling on 12th January 2023 under screwcap closure.

Food Pairing: Serve with grilled quail on a nest of green micro herbs.
