Vibrant aromas of fresh blackberry and ripe plum with florals and sweet spice. The wine is plush, rich and full bodied with mouthwatering forest fruits and plum characters. The texture is soft and velvety with a long finish.
Fruit was crushed to fermenter and inoculated with yeast for a warm fermentation. The grapes and must were carefully mixed each day for colour and once fermentation was complete they remained a further period on skins until the wine had gained its optimum texture. After pressing, the wines underwent a further malolactic fermentation in tank before 52% was transferred to French oak barrels for maturation. After maturation for 10 months the wine was blended to create a perfectly balanced, fruit-driven style.
The fruit for this wine was selected from some of the finest sites in the Hawke's Bay. 2019 was an exceptional year for the development of Merlot fruit with a warm and dry summer producing wines of intense varietal character.
