Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2022
"Fruit-forward and smooth, the wine shows ripe cherry, thyme, almond and subtle spice aromas on the nose, followed by a nicely rounded palate offering youthful fruit flavours with fine tannins, finishing supple and friendly. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2023
Deep-red with garnet and ruby hues. Ripe cherry and plum characters are supported by hints of savoury spice and dried herb. Approachable with soft tannins and intense fruit flavour. Silky texture and great length. Drinking well now and up to 2027.
Tricky growing season and vintage conditions meant our vineyard team had to work especially hard to deliver fruit to the high standards we demand. Our 2022 Pinot Noir is a blend sourced from three of our Marlborough vineyards situated in the Southern Valleys sub-region. Diversity of clone allowed us to make a complex and complete wine with vibrant, pure fruit character and depth of flavour. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French oak barriques.
Food Pairing: Great as an aperitif or with savoury tomato or mushroom based dishes, salmon, red meat or pasta.
