Mud House Sub Region Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017
A gorgeous ruby red colour in the glass, with captivating aromas of dark cherry and berries with a subtle sweet oak spice. Soft dark fruit hits the palate followed by a hint of savoury bramble berries, while a juicy acidity and soft tannins offer a lingering finish.
Grapes for this Pinot Noir come from The Narrows - a Marlborough sub region located at the narrowing of the upper Wairau Valley with lovely north facing aspects. The coolness of the area combined with the airflow created by the river allows for a longer, slower ripening season.
Grapes were hand picked, then gently destemmed, followed by a week long cold soak. Each parcel was fermented using indigenous yeast, then hand plunged to extract vibrant flavour and delicate tannin structure. The wine was finished using traditional methods.
Food Pairing: Perfect with game meat dishes.
