The wine shows a medley of beautiful dark fruit notes including blackberries and boysenberry. Wonderful spices, toast and charred oak lead to a long and lingering finish.
This elegant and aromatic Cabernet Merlot was selected from a top end vineyard area within the Hawke’s Bay region. The soils are made up of free draining gravels and the warm climate is a defining combination for producing ripe and vibrant Bordeaux styled wines.
The blend is two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, and one third Merlot. The grapes were extracted over a number of days to draw out beautiful flavours and colour as well as rich tannins. Once fermented, the wine was aged in French oak barriques, a quarter brand new barrels, and the remainder older oak. The wines were aged for over six month in barrel prior to selected the final ideal blend.
