Mystery Hawkes Bay Merlot 2017

Mystery Hawkes Bay Merlot 2017

"This is attractively fruited and immediately appealing; the wine shows Black Doris plum, cranberry, vanilla and warm spice aromas on the nose, followed by a delightfully expressed palate that is nicely weighted and smooth. The wine offers pristine fruit flavours backed by vibrant mouthfeel and fine tannins, leading to a lengthy delectable finish. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2019

"This Merlot is full of elegant plum and red fruit aromatics, with notes of chocolate and dried herbs seasoned by sweet, smoky oak. Full-bodied with silky fine-grained tannins make this a perfect food wine and the BBQ" Winemaker

Deeply coloured with brooding aromas of ripe plum and red fruits, this Mystery Merlot is soft and silky smooth. Sourced from a pedigree of vineyards located in Hawke's Bay which provide full-bodied, rich style wines.

The vineyards, in which this Mystery wine is grown, are located in the heart of Hawke's Bay's premium red wine growing region. With its stony soils and sun-drenched conditions, there is simply no better place to grow Merlot in New Zealand.

The fruit was harvested off then gently destemmed and crushed to tanks. The fermentation was pulsed up to x4 times daily on skins to maximize colour and tannin extraction. The wine was pressed at dryness and maturated on a combination of French and Hungarian oak staves for 14 months before being blended, lightly egg white fined, and filtered before bottling.

Food Pairing: BBQ meats or roasted lamb.
