Mystery Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020 (07)
- Subtle oak
- Ripe black cherry
- Subtle spice
- Supple tannins
"It's spicy and savoury with sweet fruit notes, showing ripe cherry, cured meat, warm mushroom and dried flower aromas, followed by a fruity palate that's nicely rounded and supple. Well balanced and smooth with a tasty finish" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2024
Ripe black cherry and strawberry notes laced with a richness of spice and oak overtones. A wine style that furthers New Zealand’s reputation as one of the few countries to have successfully come to grips with this fickle, supremely aristocratic grape. If you desire a more complex wine, further cellaring is recommended. This wine has been made in a very ‘non-interventionalist’ style and so we expect it to form a harmless deposit during cellaring. Decanting is recommended.
Our 2020 Marlborough Pinot Noir is a regional blend of some of the best vineyards around Rapaura, Marlborough. Located near the coast, these vineyards benefit from cold winds at night, locking in acidity and fruit freshness. 2020 was an exceptional vintage for Marlborough in general, with the Pinot noir produced being of high quality. This fruit was vinified in Marlborough, and the resultant wine sent to Auckland for finishing.
Food Pairing: This fruit driven red wine is a great match with salads, pasta and fish and simple lamb dishes.
