Mystery Martinborough Pinot Noir 2022

Mystery Martinborough Pinot Noir 2022

Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!

"It's nicely fruited and lifted on the nose showing red cherry, dried herb, game and clove aromas, followed by a light palate offering juicy flavours with smooth mouthfeel, finishing fruity and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2022

The fruit for this wine was harvested from multiple sites in the Martinborough.

After passing over a sorting table, the berries were destemmed into a open top fermenter and inoculated with a cultured yeast. During fermentation, the temperature reached on average 28ºC, and the wines were pumped over once daily, with a daily plunge as the ferment slowed. After approximately 15 days on skins, the wine was pressed into a stainless steel tank where it was inoculated for malolactic fermentation then a portion was racked to several old French oak  barriques. After three months of aging in oak, the barrels were blended back into the stainless steel tank and the resulting wine was filtered.
