The arrival of the New Year brought with it long, hot sunny summer days with moderate cool nights for perfect ripening conditions. Yeilds were slightly down, with exceptional quality across all varieties.
Chardonnay from the Gimblett Road vineyard was harvested in early March 2019 by both hand harvesting and machine harvesting. Fermentation took place in new and seasoned barriques and puncheons with regular lees stirring to enhance texture and complexity. Partial malolactic fermentation took place before blending and bottling in May 2020.
