Rock Ferry TNT Central Otago Pinot Noir 2020
An intriguing nose of doris plum, cocoa, lavendar, and dried rose petals. On the palate ample spice, dark fruits, and earthy forest floor notes are underpinned by chalky fine tannins which frame the fruit and provide structure for a long, complex finish.
TNT is a select portion of our Trig Hill Vineyard, which slopes north-west towards the afternoon sun. Seeking to delve deeper into our incredible sites, this lieu-dit expresses the majestic place where it is grown.
With gentle and meticulous care the fruit was hand-picked and hand-sorted befroe being destemmed into a 700L Italian Amphora, 25% whole cluster. A slow cool spontaneous ferment follows, with a hand pigéage of the cap daily. After 27 days the wine was drained and gently pressed, before being returned to amphora for further ageing. The wine was racked, settled, and bottled unfined and unfiltered in November 2021.
