Spring Creek Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (By Hunter's Wines)
- Dry style
- Grapefruit
- Stone fruit
- Crisp acidity
"Fresh and fragrant, the bouquet shows crunchy apple, lemon/lime zest and nectarine notes, leading to a juicy palate offering bright fruit flavours with vibrant acidity, finishing crisp-dry and lingering. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2024
A refreshing and vibrant wine with aromas of grapefruit and citrus complementing the tropical flavours to form this well-balanced wine. The wine shows stone fruit characters with a off-dry palate that lingers on to a juicy finish. Crisp acidity creating a fresh wine that can be enjoyed now or over the next two years.
At the start of the growing season conditions was damp and humid with budburst slightly earlier than average. Some rain during the growing season provided plenty of nutrient but didn’t impact any fruit set. Mild summer conditions help with even ripening of the grapes which allowed perfect conditions for the fruit to be picked at optimum ripeness. Overall we received average yields with optimum quality fruit.
The fruit was picked in the cool of the morning and processed using anaerobic techniques. The cool fruit was de-stemmed, crushed and lightly pressed. At this stage the greatest of care is taken to handle the fruit as little as possible during these processes thereby retaining maximum fruit character and aromas.
The juice was clarified by cold settling, after which it was racked and then fermented for approximately 28 days in stainless steel tanks.
