Summerhouse Central Otago Pinot Noir 2018
- French & Hungarian oak
- Dark cherry
- Blackberry
- Spice notes
From a beautiful vineyard in the Alexandra sub-region of Central Otago, this wine opens with dark cherry and boysenberry aromas along with a lovely cinnamon and spine aspect. Medium-bodied and softly textured, it's layered with cherry, blackberry, mocha and spice notes and a moreish acidity.
This beautiful Central Otago Pinot Noir, like the whole Summerhouse range comes from a unique and inspiring vineyard site. Summerhouse's vinyards are hidden jewels, remote back breaking helping them to write the next chapter in New Zealand’s wine story. These wines are a reflection of the variety, region and vineyard they are grown in, showing lovely fruit purity and concentration.
Carefully harvested in the cool of the night to help preserve the fresh flavours from the vineyard. Cold soaked to extract the desired flavours, tannins and colour. The wine cap was plunged two to three times a day to extract colour and tannins from the skins. Select parcels were then allowed to macerate for an additional twoto five days, further extracting colour and flavours after fermentation. Once pressed the wine was matured in a combination of French and Hungarian Oak.
Food Pairing: Try with grilled pork loin chops, chicken Provençal or a roasted vegetable salad.
