Radiant in brilliant magenta, the Estate Syrah ’24 immediately captivates with its depth and intensity. Aromas of ripe red and dark fruits unfold—plum, morello cherry, blueberry, and a hint of black pepper—layered with warm notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. A delicate floral lift of perfumed violets, intertwined with French vanilla and a whisper of espresso, brings balance and finesse. Estate Syrah ’24 was harvested between 25 March and 9 April 2024 from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards in Hawke’s Bay’s Dartmoor, Bridge Pā Triangle and Gimblett Gravels sub-regions.
The individual parcels of syrah from each plot were destemmed for fermentation and remained on skins for extended maceration before pressing. It was then run off to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months’ maturation, during which time it was regularly topped and racked. The wine received a traditional egg white fining before bottling.
Food Pairing: Estate Syrah is a wonderful accompaniment to all red meats, savoury and lightly spiced dishes of Mediterranean cuisine, as well as soft cheeses.
