Glowing a saturated magenta, Estate Syrah ’20 entices with fresh blueberry, black cherry and ripe, black plum. Hints of prune, coffee, Italian herbs, cinnamon and woodsmoke all underpin the exotic nature of this ultra-modern wine. Intense and focused, Estate Syrah ’20 balances weight, power and drive, with dark fruit perfume and inky depths. Pure satisfaction. Estate Syrah ’20 will continue to evolve in bottle for two to four years from harvest.

Estate Syrah ’20 was harvested between 21 and 28 March 2020 from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards in Hawke’s Bay’s Dartmoor, Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels sub-regions.

The individual parcels of syrah from each plot were destemmed for fermentation and remained on skins for extended maceration before pressing. It was then run off to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months’ maturation, during which time it was regularly topped and racked. The wine received a traditional egg white fining before bottling
