Thornbury Hawkes Bay Merlot 2021

Thornbury Hawkes Bay Merlot 2021

  • French oak
  • Ripe plum
  • Chocolate
  • Silky tannins

Deeply coloured with brooding aromas of ripe plum and red fruits, Thornbury Merlot is soft and silky smooth. Sourced from pedigree vineyards within Hawkes Bay which provides full-bodied and rich styled wines. This Merlot is full of ripe plum and red fruit flavours, with notes of chocolate and dried herbs seasoned by sweet, fragrant oak. Full-bodied with silky fine-grained tannins make this a perfect food wine around the BBQ.

Our vineyards are located in the heart of Hawkes Bay's premium red winegrowing region. With its stony soils and sun-drenched conditions, there is simply no better place to grow Merlot in New Zealand.

The fruit was harvested then gently destemmed and crushed to tanks. The fermentation was pumped over daily on skins to maximize colour and tannin extraction. The wine was pressed at dryness and maturated on French oak staves for 12 months before being blended, lightly egg-white fined and filtered before bottling.

Food Pairing: BBQ meats or Roasted Lamb.
