Yealands Reserve Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2021

Yealands Reserve Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2021

  • Spiced oak
  • Yellow nectarine
  • Ripe lemon
  • Elegant finish

This beautiful Chardonnay has layers of ripe lemon and yellow nectarine, with subtle nutty aromas and oak spice. The palate is generously textured with ripe stone fruit, lees complexity, and hints of oak with a long, elegant finish.

The 2021 growing season in Hawkes Bay was of exceptional quality; warm spring temperatures, brought forward flowering, but also meant for smaller crops. With very little disease pressure and with favourable weather conditions continuing through March, the fruit was able to be picked at optimal ripeness.

The fruit used for this wine was picked ideal ripeness and gently pressed. The juice was settled and racked off solids then fermented with a range of vessels, temperatures and yeast strains including wild fermentation, to give aroma and mouth feel complexity. After aging on yeast lees with regular stirring, the batches were racked, blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

Food Pairing: Beautifully matched with roast chicken, fish and chips and oysters.
