Alana Estate Martinborough Riesling 2019
- Off-dry style
- Nectarine
- Lemon/lime
- Crisp acidiy
"Restrained and elegant, it's delicately fragrant on the nose showing white flesh nectarine, lemon/lime zest and white floral aromas. The palate delivers fine texture and pristine fruit flavours backed by crisp acidity, finishing vibrant and mouth-watering. Style: Off-dry. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2020.
The fruit was hand picked from a vineyard site in the Dry River area south of Martinborough. The bunches were transferred whole to the press and underwent a 6 hour gentle pressing cycle to extract maximum flavour. The juice was settled for 24 hours before racking to a stainless steel tank where it underwent a spontaneous fermentation that lasted for one month. The wine was then chilled to 0ºC to maintain a small amount of residual sugar for balance. Following protein stabilisation and filtration, the wine was bottled in September 2019.
Established in 1993, Alana Estate is a boutique winery nestled in the heart of the Martinborough township. Alana ffocusses on producing small batches of artisanal wine with a minimum of intervention in the wine making process.
Food Pairing: Delicious with a spicy Thai beef salad.
