Deep dark ruby red colour with violet blue rim. The aromas are mature blackberries, ripe juicy dark cherries gentle notes of wild herbs balanced off with a dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is rich and juicy with good concentration between mature fruits and rich dark chocolate with a natural sweetness and gentle tannins that lay smooth over the palate.
Made from 100% Monastrell, the grapes for this wine were grown on 40yr old vines in the Alicante region in Spain. The region experiences a semi continental climate.
The grapes were hand harvested a little later than usual, in the beginning of November. Cold maceration at 5ºC over 48 hrs and fermented at 24-26ºC over 12-15 days. The wine was then aged for 6 months in 100% French oak.
