Astrolabe Durvillea Marlborough Chardonnay 2019

Astrolabe Durvillea Marlborough Chardonnay 2019

  • Sweet oak
  • Crème caramel
  • Ripe citrus
  • Honeydew melon

"Offering good value, the 2019 vintage is a regional blend, grown in the Wairau Valley and the Awatere Valley. Hand-harvested and barrel-matured for seven months, it is a characterful wine, bright, light lemon/green, with ripe, peachy, citrusy flavours, gently seasoned with oak, moderate acidity, considerable complexity, and a slightly creamy finish. Drink now or cellar" New Zealand Wines 2021, Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide

"Moderately intense, ripe peach, apple and citrus and grapefruit flavours that reflect an excellent vintage. Supple Chardonnay with a perfect balance of fruit sweetness and fruity acidity. Elegant rather than blockbuster" Bob Cambell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2020

A soft, straw colour in the glass with aromas of complex citrus fruit, hazelnut meal, crème caramel and sweet oak vanillin. A full-bodied wine, with nectarine, honeydew melon, fine oak and a long ripe citrus finish. Already drinking well and likely to improve over the next three years.

Food Pairing: Roasted hazelnuts, creamy pasta and poultry dishes, smoked salmon and miso-glazed eggplant with toasted sesame seeds.
