Bleasdale Floodgate Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2022 (Australia)

Bleasdale Floodgate Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2022 (Australia)

An expressive, medium to full bodied wine showing intense lifted dark berry fruits and spice. The palate is vibrant with dense blackberry and fresh plum flavours complemented by liquorice and pepper spice. Drinking well now until 2030.

When Frank Potts settled on the floodplains of the Bremer River in 1850, he soon established a system of floodgates, locks and weirs that would allow him to manage the natural floodwaters that flowed through his property. As the number of vineyards in Langhorne Creek grew, Frank’s neighbours followed his lead and installed their own floodgates. What emerged was a unique community irrigation system that still survives today; upstream vineyards will hold the floodwater and plan with their downstream neighbours when is the right time to move the water on.

Estate Vineyard and Specialist Growers Langhorne Creek, South Australia.

De-stemmed to open fermenters, approx 15% whole berry, for a short soak. Fermentation peak at 30°C with up to 4 pump overs per day. Drained & pressed after 9 to 12 days on skins, settled for 24 hours before racking to oak for MLF. 12 months new (10%) and seasoned French oak puncheons and hogsheads.

Food Pairing: A backyard BBQ with friends.
