Brancott Estate Reserve Marlborough Rosé 2021
- Dry style
- Strawberries & cranberries
- Almond blossom
- Crisp red apple
Bright aromas of red fruits lead on to a lively, medium-bodied palate, packed with flavours of red cherries, strawberries and cranberries with a hint of sweet almond blossom. Dry and refreshing, the wine has a lively finish of crisp red apples. Ready to drink upon release, this wine will be at it’s best drunk within 2-3 years.
New Zealand had ideal growing conditions leading into harvest with average crops and clean, intensively flavourful fruit with early budburst across all the wine regions. A slightly wetter December ensured healthy vines leading into the growing season and a drier than normal January and February created perfect conditions for veraison and grape ripening through to the start of harvest. Cooler nights in late February and March also helped lock in the natural acidity and freshness to the fruit.
The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine were machine harvested from our Marlborough vineyards, and brought to the winery for pressing. Only the palest free run juice was used before too much colour had been extracted. After clarification, fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with some cuve fermentation as well. Some parcels were fermented wild to add complexity, or selected aromatic yeasts were used. The various components were brought together for tasting and blending, and the wine stabilised, before filtering into bottle.
Food Pairing: Serve this vibrant rosé alongside colourful Tapas such as Iberian ham, olives and smoked almonds. Delicious with BBQ food such as lemony grilled chicken or pork and fennel sausages, and simply wonderful with crumbly white cheeses such as fetta or goats cheese.
