Corte Giara Pinot Grigio 2017 (Italy)
Straw yellow in colour in the glass with a light and delicate nose, characterised by a subtle elegant floral nuance followed by hints of golden delicious apples and distinctive vegetal notes. Dry and medium-bodied, the palate faithfully reflects the nose, being tangy and satisfying, while at the same time simple and exceedingly enjoyable.
2017 has been a strange vintage, with media reports contradicting the reality on the ground in our wine growing areas. Unlike in other areas of Italy, the vintage developed with very satisfactory regularity. The Cote Giara vineyards completely escaped frost and hailstorms, and while rainfall was lower than average, it was still within the norm. The dry and breezy climate, with wide variations in day-night temperatures in the final few weeks, enabled the grapes to fully express their varietal aromas in addition to ensuring their excellent health.
Food Pairing: Try with mixed grilled fish, peppered mussels and clams, sea bass baked in salt, Valencian paella, baccalà (creamed salt cod), chicken salad, nuts and exotic fruit.
