Echo Marlborough Pinot Gris 2020
- Dry style
- Ripe peach
- Crisp pear
- Balanced acidity
"It's delightfully expressed on the nose showing rockmelon, apple, pear and floral aromas, followed by a succulent palate delivering fabulous fruit intensity and a lingering juicy finish. Friendly and very tasty with gorgeous varietal flavours. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020
Beautifully rounded flavours of crisp pear and ripe peach with a hint of spice. The finish shows well balanced acidity ensuring a refreshing mouth-feel. The fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness and after pressing the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to enhance the purity of varietal flavours. At its best over the next three to four years.
The Echo was a 104 ft scow, rigged as a topsail schooner, used to transport goods in the early 1900s, from Marlborough’s coastal Wairau Bar, to the town of Blenheim by the way of the Opawa river. Todays the river meanders through Marlborough’s flourishing vineyards of the lower Wairau plain.
Food Pairing: Well matched with an assortment of dishes including fresh fish, pasta or a selection of cheese
