Eight Ranges Trail Rider Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019
- Dark plum & cherry
- Brown spices
- Almond & vanilla
- Floral notes
"Attractively fruited and beautifully fragrant, the bouquet shows dark plum, sweet cherry, thyme, floral and almond characters, leading to a nicely rounded palate that's smooth and lingering. The wine offers lovely elegance and appealing flavours, making it delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Smoky and toasty centric bouquet with brown spices then fruit aromas of dark cherry and plum, vanilla and dusty metal road. On the palate - firm, fruit, varietal and dry. Flavours reflect the nose, firm texture from tannins and medium+ acidity then a bite of oak and youthful quiver. Decant for service though best drinking from mid 2021 through 2025+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
"From the Alexandra Basin, the wine expresses the vibrance and sinewy tension that's typical of Pinot Noir from this subregion. A light, refreshing wine with bright cherry flavours, it offers value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review
This is an enticingly elegant Pinot Noir with concentrated berry fruits and a herbaceous note reflecting the local thyme that grows around our vineyard. A smooth, lingering finish is supported by fine smoky notes providing a lovely savoury balance.
All Trail Rider wines are hand made from fruit grown on the winemakers micro vineyard that overlooks the Central Otago Rail Trail. These are serious wines made with no corners cut, designed to be enjoyed and shared now, although these wines will develop with time. The winemakers family make these wines in a sustainable manner, are vegan friendly and designed to leave a minimal footprint.
