Portuguese winemakers are masters at blending different grapes, and this wine is seen as a homage to their skills. Bringing together a range of Portuguese and international varieties, the wine is smooth, structured and richly tannic. It has great acidity to balance the black fruits. Delicious drinking!
Alc: 13.5% - Seal: Screw cap
1 x Cuatro Gatos Tempranillo 2021 (Spain)
AWARDED 90 POINTS: Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
AWARDED 90 POINTS & 4.5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Bright, lifted an plush red fruited bouquet with scents and flavours of dark cherry and plum with a layer of natural fruit spice and mineral earth suggesting dry clay. There's a youthful tautness and squeeze as the fruit tannins and acid line set the foundation for fruit. Moderate alcohol, dry, fruity, balanced and well made" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Alc: 12.5% - Seal: Screw cap
1 x Villa Blanche 'Les Cepages Anciens' Piquepoul Noir 2021 (France)
AWARDED 16/20 POINTS: Jancis Robinson
"Dark, ruby colour, the nose is fresh with aromas of ripe red cherry and berry fruit along with notes of dark raspberries, and an blend of spices, florals and liquorice. Medium-bodied, the palate has soft and gently rich character, vibrant fruit flavours of red cherries and berries with savoury spice, herb and floral touches. This is really lovely & glugable , the fruit is sweet and juicy, and is underlined by balancing fresh acidity. A great alternative to the 'heavier' wines of the region, this is all about elegance and balance" Jancis Robinson
Astonishingly good and as rare as hen's teeth (maybe that's the chicken bit explained!). At the end of the last century there was thought to be only 200 hectares left globally. And that's despite the fact this is one of the 18 varieties allowed to b used in Chateauneuf-du-Pape!
Alc: 12.5% - Seal: Screw cap
1 x Anciano Garnacha Valencia Clasico 2020 (Spain)
AWARDED 91/100 POINTS & 4.5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
AWARDED 90/100 POINTS & 4 STARS: Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2022
"Complex and enticing with dark berry, assorted nut, clove and rich floral aromas, it's splendidly flavoursome and delectable in the mouth displaying ripe fruit intensity together with savoury nuances. Well supported by silky texture and fine tannins, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Alc: 13.5% - Seal: Cork
2 x Cabra Cega Lisboa Vinho Tinto 2019 (Portugal)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: China Wines & Spirits Awards 2019
Highly aromatic notes of ripe black and red fruits. In the mouth, it has a smooth fruity start with concentrated red fruit flavours perfectly balanced with oak notes and a nice acidity. The fresh, yet fine tannins take over at finish, where flavours of spice and liquorice dominate. A blend of Touriga Franca, Castelão, Syrah & Tinta Roriz – again, just think richly fruited, smooth as silk red.
Alc: 13% - Seal: Cork
