Vibrant red with some purple hues. Ripe plums with hints of florals, vanilla and pepper spice on the nose. Medium bodied with juicy dark red fruits, cool climate spice and finessed French oak with soft tannins.
2018 was an outstanding year. Conditions were near perfect throughout the whole growing season. The year was warm without being too hot and the vines were able to ripen the fruit to the degree they desired without any stress. This means all aspect of fruit composition was good and acid was naturally maintained.
Winemaking is a game of quick wit, experience and endurance. Each year Mother Nature challenges them to a match and each year they respond; moving deftly with the lightest touch. As seasoned contenders, they know how to play the game. The resulting blend is captivating; light on it’s feet yet full of character and perfect with food. Are you Game?
This Shiraz is a complex blend due to the different ripening conditions of the different parcels of grapes picked. Two thirds of the fruit parcels were wild fermented to create further complexity and depth. For 12 months this wine was matured with oak, mostly French. A dash of Mourvedre was added to provide a dark fruit perfume lift and add complexity to the palate.
