Granet hues with perfumed aromas of dark plum and cherries with hints of vanilla. The palate is soft and silky yet richly flavoured with sweet spices and fruit, while the pleasingly textural tannins draw this silky wine through to a long flavoursome finish.
The 2018 vintage saw an unusually dry summer and early autumn, coupled with the cool night-time temperatures allowed the vines to produce fruit with exceptional character and flavour while being harvested at lower degrees of sugar ripeness, producing vibrant, balanced, lower alcohol styles.
The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed prior to being fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7 days on skins with three pump overs a day to exact colour and tannin. Malolactic fermentation occurred in tank before 16 months oak maturation in American and European puncheons (500 litres).
