Grant Burge Benchmark South Australia Merlot 2021 (Australia)

Grant Burge Benchmark South Australia Merlot 2021 (Australia)

"It's brightly fruited and fragrant on the nose with Black Doris plum, floral, thyme and roasted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's ripe and supple. Fruit expressive and elegantly flavoursome for everyday drinking. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2022

"Deep, full ruby-red, lighter on edge. The nose is full, packed with berry, plum and spice aromas, along with a hint of floral and herbaceousness. Medium-full bodied, aromas of red berry, plum and vine leaf melded with violet; clove and nutmeg expand a moderately long finish. Soft tannins leave a light grip and texture; balanced acidity provides a smooth flow. This is a well-rounded Merlot with succulent fruit, soft tannins and a balanced flow. Match with lamb burger and barbeque meat over the next 2-3 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Feb 2023

Medium crimson with a purple tinge. Rich dark berry and vanilla pod with a hint of clove spice. Fruit driven flavours of dark berry fruits, rich plum, blackcurrant and cherry with subtle hints of chocolate, mocha, spice and oak. Soft velvety tannins and good length.

The 2021 vintage was farily mild, with a warm Summer and ample sunshine ensuring full, ripe fruit flavours to develop.

The Benchmark range of wines are a collection to honour the 1865 pioneer, Meshach Burge and his high standard of winemaking that fostered a legacy spanning five generations.

With an unparalleled devotion to the land and more than 155 years of winemaking heritage. Grant Burge continues to craft generous, modern Australian wines. The Benchmark rage showcases the quality of South Australian wines, selecting the ideal parcels to craft bright, fruit driven and balanced wine for immediate ejoyment.

Food Pairing: Barbequed meats.
