Grant Burge Shiraz 5th Generation 2017 (Australia)
Deep dark purple in colour in the glass. Brillirant aromas of raspberry and blackberry, complemented by spice, subtle vanilla and coffee bean perfume the bouquet. This is a full bodied wine where the red fruits in the mid palate are balanced with integrated fine long tannins and hints of sweetness and spice from the oak. The soft integrated tannin structure gives the wine a real elegance and mid palate structure. The multi-layered depth of flavours and long lingering finish make this an impressive wine.
Grant Burge is a 5th generation Barossa vigneron. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa with his wife Eliza and their two sons, Meshach and Henry.
Sourced from a variety of premium vineyards, predominantly in the Barossa Valley, that consistently deliver exceptional flavour and interest. The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed prior to being fermented in stainless steel tanks. After it underwent malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in a combination of American and French oak for a period of 14 months.
