Pale Gold with hints of green. Aromatic style, with lychee, honey and almond notes. Shy, delicate and complex all in one. Mouth filling style with ample ripe fruit, again lychee, honey and apricot notes. The wine is well balanced with the alcohol and acid drying the wine nicely. Persists well.
Sourced from the Gale force vineyard in the Lower Dashwood area of the Awatere. The vineyard is extremely exposed to the wind and hence the name. the exposed position means less vigour and smaller berries, giving and intense flavour profile.
The grapes were machine harvested at night. As Pinot gris is phenolic and slightly coloured no preservative is added to allow the colour and phenolics to oxidise. Cold settled for 36 hours the juice was inoculated and fermented until deemed to be in balance.
